Snapshots #1 -
A Kind of Black: Nothing is real

This is not a conclusion nor an opening, on the 5th August from 16:00-22:00, we gather and immerse ourselves into "A Kind of Black: Nothing is real", a gathering that punctuates an artistic experiment, a journey through found material, relationships, stories and research process accumulating into a performance, dinner, and a story that unfolds over the span of 6 hours.

Together with friends Serubi Moses, Yinka Adesina, Nelson Carrilho, Marius Pantophlet, Darren Arnell, Joca Gumbs, Ferry Jong, Mayra Paula, and Dineo Seshee Bopape, Jabu invites the audience to “join in on the conversation and the making”. Since the beginning of Snapshots Jabu had been at work creating a table installation that is both a part of the show but also meant to be used to offer a seat at the table as modes of relating, sharing and making together take place.

As part of the month-long show/studio/artistic gathering, visitors are welcome to come on open days during the month to take in Jabu’s process; part of which is the rehearsal for the gathering taking place on the 4th.

“A Kind of Black: Nothing is Real" embodies the spirit of Black artistic experimental traditions and is part of an ongoing process where ideas and artistic expressions intersect, evolve, and unfold.
