Graag nodigen we jullie uit to come and hang out in Metro54’s installatie Sonic Tings: <3 Geen Stress (Een Hoorspel) bij het Van Abbemuseum. Sonic Tings hoort bij een breder onderzoek van Metro54 naar sonische intimiteit, gericht op de rol van muziek als middel om verhalen te vertellen over sociale geschiedenissen, verandering in sociale positie, mentale gezondheid en leven in de stad van nu.
Dit hoorspel is gemaakt door de leerlingen van middelbare school ABC Noorderlicht en is een eerbetoon aan het schoolleven, vriendschappen en Amsterdam Noord. Sonic Tings gaat over de sociale sonische intimiteit die verwijst naar de moedige, niet-aangepaste en speelse manieren waarop een groep tieners verschillende generaties - over alle grenzen heen - navigeren en omgaan met begrippen als thuis, zelfbeschikking, herinnering, verbeelding en uitsluitingssystemen.
Metro54 heeft samengewerkt met leerlingen van ABC Noorderlicht om dit hoorspel te maken tijdens een serie workshops over hoorspelen, compositie, stem en intonatie. De ruimtelijke vormgeving is ontworpen door de ontwerpers Architect Katharina Sook Wilting & Tal met input van de leerlingen.
De installatie wordt op drie momenten tijdens de tentoonstelling live geactiveerd, begeleid door dj’s en artiesten.
Met bijdragen van de leerlingen van ABC, Yahaira Gezius, kunstenaar Pris Roos, componist en kunstenaar Kwami Coleman en vele andere gasten.

We are excited to announce the upcoming exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum, Sonic Tings: <3 Geen Stress (Een Hoorspel). Sonic Tings is part of Metro54’s larger research into sonic intimacy, focused on the role of sound as a means to tell a story about social histories, changes in social positions, mental health and living in today’s urban environments.
This radio play is created by the students of ABC Noord and is a homage to school life, friendships and Amsterdam Noord. Sonic Tings is about the brave, unadapted and playful ways in which a group of teenagers navigate notions of home, self-determination, remembrance, imagination and exclusionary systems. Metro54 collaborated with students of ABC Noorderlicht to make this radio show during a workshop on radio plays, composition, voice and intonation. The spatial design is by designers Katharina Sook Wilting & Tal.
The activation of this installation takes place live on three occasions throughout the exhibition period, accompanied by DJs and artists.
With contributions by the students from ABC, Yahaira Gezius, artist Pris Roos, composer and artist Kwami Coleman and many more guests and contributors.
