For Us By Us: The Party Is Political (Summer mini-fest)
Date: Sunday 26 June 2016
Location: Butcher’s Tears
Metro54 presents in collaboration with the Side Room & Butcher’s Tears the documentary the Mahoyo Project on Sunday 26 June during the Summer Party at Butcher’s Tears.
“Childhood friends Farah Yusuf, and Pia and MyNa Do run an online showroom, practice photography and DJ under the collective name Mahoyo. Last May, they set out from their native Stockholm on what they call a search for the unexpected that took them to Johannesburg. Their quest, and all the discoveries and collaborations it enabled, are captured in their documentary The Mahoyo Project”. (OkayAfrica, 2015)
The Mahoyo Project is part of the For Us By Us Summer Party which brings the political and raptured sounds of#forteu, dancing, laughter, joy and silliness together during a 12 hour celebratory Summer party. Aside of (performative) DJ sets by internationally acclaimed DJs Cooly G, D.R.E.E.A and Fred Hystere & Mahoyo collective at Butcher’s Tears.
Drinks by Butcher’s Tears, Food & Cocktails by Bar Br├Ñ.

The BOOM AFRICA EP is finally here! The collaboration between Metro54, We Love African Hip Hop, Kalaf Angelo, GMBisGeryMendes, Bamba Nazar, Okmalumkoolkat, Nástio Mosquito & many more.
The Boom Africa EP is exclusively released via okayafrica for the world to hear. This project was born out of the desire to create space for experiment and dialogue between/with various African sounds, musicians and word smiths, and we must say it still sounds awesome. Feel free to listen, share and dance to the tunes.
Merci to Neals Niat —the great illustrator and future architect from Brussels who gave a visual language to the music.
